Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain notoriety. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently released single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, July 21st the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work with her on some references. The announcement of her decision to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared as a guest performer on two songs, with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video came out on the 5th. In November, she dropped two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 13, she dropped two singles titled The No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019, a music video was made available for the track. The track has received nearly three millions views on YouTube in its initial week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
